Hey, how do you straighten hair with a clothing iron?

I tried it once with a towel on my hair, and it didn't do kaka. And the iron was on the highest setting.

Im wondering if I should try this again with the iron applied directly to my hair, but Im REALLY frightened as to what it will do to it.

What will happen? And how do you iron your hair with a clothing iron properly?

DON'T DO IT!!! you can buy proper straightening irons FOR HAIR for a reasonable price that will straighten hair properly. Don't use a clothes iron it will damage your hair. Try hqhair.com for straightening irons.

Absolutley right...DON'T DO IT! It was the thing to do in the 60s but I saw more than one with seriously burned/charred hair or even with the imprint of the iron in their hair. Not attractive. As this web site says, IT WAS A BAD FAD!

Great website Merlin!

Actually, a lot of my friends did the hair ironing thing back then (my hair was so straight I didn't have to). They had the best results when they wrapped the length that was to be ironed in wax paper. Maybe some of the waxy substance transferred onto the hair, I don't know, but I don't think I would recommend that as a way to straighten hair. I didn't see any disasters though. Just a "recurl" when humidity hit.
