This should be a quick and easy questions, girls. I have been trying to divert from bleach to using only a high lift color (natural color 5 or 6). The hairdresser for some crazy reason decided to put the color on the entire length of my hair, not just on the new growth. Therefore, I have WHITE hair with where she overlapped, yet the roots in the areas that were not left on as long as the rest of my head, like my crown, are yellow. I went back to the colorist and she put the color back on in those areas for about 5-10 minutes. It is better but still quite yellow (especially compared to the white of the ends!) I do not like either color, but I don't want to damage my hair anymore. I am assuming I just use a toner with a 10 volume to even these two colors out? I have always been very very light with NO gold. But I am prepared to have a slight golden hue for the health of my hair to take away the WHITE. Any color reccommendations from anyone who has been in the same boat or KNOWS????/ Thanks so much!!!~

choose a extra light blonde if you want to cool the yellow tones use an extra light blonde with ash tone, if golden tones are required use a extra light blonde with golden tones, use a 10 vol as you are only wanting to change the tone, leave on until you see the tone change to your target shade, ( very visual) may only need 5/10 mins, the rinse off.
Thank you, Karen. That is exactly what I did. I left it on for 30 minutes and it did not change my tone in the slightest!
Then I used a deposit only color in a 10 Gold Neutral, same thing!
At the risk of damaging my hair, of which I am so afraid, I just may be stuck with what I have for awhile. I thought my hair was really porous, but it is not grabbing ANY color!!

It is possible because your hair so white that it has no pigment for the colour grab on to, did it not change the tone of the yellow either?
You may have to go a few shades darker, a level 8 or 9.
Or you could pre soften the hair with 10 vol developer, brush this into the hi lighted areas, and dry with a hairdryer, then apply the colour. Pre softening with open up the cuticle to allow the colour to penetrate better.
I am attemping to change the tone of the white of my hair, therefore adding Gold tones/color. Thus far, it has not done a thing, but I will attempt your method. Thanks so much!!!!

Color doesn't lift color. If A blonde color (not bleach) has been applied, the only way to get it lighter is bleach. It will end up over processed. You should never apply color on top of color.
I find that anyone darker than an 8/9 will result in too much yellow orange with a highlift.

An 8/9 is not hi lift colours, lol, and I did recommend to use an ash tone to remove any warmth. Trying to deposit and tone colour on to white hair Ally:)
Try the pre softening as this will help open up the hair cuticle to allow the colour to penetrate better
Ally, I am not trying to LIGHTEN at all! Only to tone/soften my ends. My natural 5/6 actually becomes transparent with a ligh lift, but that is not what I am trying to achieve any longer. I LOVE the tone of your Paris Hilton pics. That is the color of my 2 inch roots, which I would like to make all-over. Very soft and clean.
