QuoteReplyTopic: I finally got my pictures posted! Posted: May 31 2003 at 12:11am
I'm so excited I can show you all my hair now! This makes my day! (It was a long hard day at work. I didn't leave until 10:30!!)
ANYWAY, I had my hair up in a Ficcare all day, and we were just talking about Ficcares in another thread, so I thought I'd take a pic to show you what it looked like. I'm starting to get a handle on doing a French Twist! *beaming with pride*
I also took a pic with my hair down. And I'm holding the best cat on the planet! His name is Gunther. You can't have him! All mine. He is such a sweetheart. Anyhow, I didn't comb my hair at all before the picture (or at all today for that matter!) so it isn't the best showing of my $80 haircut from 10 weeks ago. But it still looks good for not being washed in 48 hours.
Thanks Uzi!! You're such a sweetheart. I can't wait to see your hair! I can't believe you're still up! It must be 5AM in London! Are you just getting up? Or are you a serious night owl like me?
To answer your questions: It's wavy because I'd just taken it out of the clip. I wish it would stay that way! But no. Flat again within minutes.
Usually the tangles I chop off are on the underside.
The color is enhanced. I'm naturally dishwater-blonde. I lighten it with Beach Blonde Sun Streaks... which unfortunately contains peroxide, but what can you do? It doesn't seem to do too much damage. It's a compromise.

I get up at the crack of dawn - this body just won't stay in bed. Life - so much to do, so few hours of daylight. Must make the most of it!! Waiting for the June sales to buy that digital camera so that I can post some shots.
Enhanced or not, I love your hair colour.
Have a good week-end.

Wow! I wish I had that energy, Uzi. I enjoy sleep too much.
Cyn, I've been trying for like 2 years to take really good care of my hair and really safe guard against damage. I rarely brush it and just use a wide tooth wooden comb only when it's dry. Some days, all I do is finger comb it.
Also, I only use gentle shampoos and conditioners. I learned about those here and in Paula Begoun's hair book. And from Lyris' ingredient list! :)
I started taking vitamins a couple months ago, but I don't think those could have much effect yet.
Thanks for asking! If there were a blushing smiley icon, I would put it here.

Your hair looks good, too! I like the new photo. You know, our hair looks about the same length, but the measurements in your sig say 27.25. I must not be measuring right. I just measured the length of a strand, with help. I think I'll do like you and measure from the hairline on my forehead to the ends in back. That's how you did it, right?
Then I'll come up with a bigger number, which will boost my confidence.
Oh, and I'm sure you can do a French Twist! Just keep practicing! It took me a looooong time to get it right. The one in the photo was just a happy accident, really. :) I'm not sure what I did, exactly. I hope I can do it again! That was Friday, and I haven't tried since.

Your hair is lovely! Very very very pretty and shiny...you've obviously been taking good care of it and of your kitty too (which looks just like my beloved Charlotte that died three years ago this October and is buried in the backyard underneath the apple tree that's marked with a ceramic cat....no, I wasn't obsessed or anything ;-)
Great hair!!!!!

I have been taking really good care of it for what feels like forever. Sometime soon I will have to post a picture of what it looked like 5 years ago. Yikes! I was a frizz bomb! Chalk that up to dying it really light blonde, and working full time as a lifeguard at a chlorine water park! When I wasn't in the chlorine, I was baking it in the sun!
ANYWAY, now I'm anal-retentive about being non-hair damaging! I don't think I could return to my old career. :)
But I do still have some split ends, Monica. But not for long once I lay eyes on them. I hack them right off. :) I also still have a fair amount of frizz. But I guess you can only see it when close up. My hair is pretty fine. But that doesn't keep me from leaning in close to the mirror and futzing over it!
Sorry to hear about your kitty, Lyris. :( Lately, Gunther's been shunning me for our roommate, who's been home more often than me lately, and making more of a fuss over him to boot. :) But she's going away for a month, so I'll win him back. I fill the food bowl and clean the litter box, after all. (The INBOX and the OUTBOX I call them.)
Thanks again for the kind compliments!

how much is the book? can you find it at basically any book store? what shampoos and conditiioners are you using supergrover? also do you use a leave in condioner? sorry for all the questions.
Hi Monica! Sorry about the delayed response! I've been working like crazy for the last couple of days and haven't checked the boards.
I read the book for free because I checked it out from my library! I did have to get on a waiting list however. I had no idea the book was so popular! Worth the wait though. I thought if I really liked the book then I would buy my own copy. But I will wait until the next edition comes out. The latest edition is several years old, and it seems like 1/2 the shampoos and conditioners she talks about aren't even made anymore! And then of course a lot of new stuff has come out that she hasn't covered. But it's still a very good read.
And I don't usually use leave-in conditioner, except when my hair is really acting parched. Though I really like something called Redken All-Soft Addictive, which has jojoba oil as a main ingredient, but comes as a spray bottle. Twice a week or so, I'll use a teeny bit on my hair while it's still wet. I don't rinse it, like the directions say. It's expensive though. $15 for like a 2oz bottle. I wouldn't have tried it, but I got it when Trade Secret had their 40% Redken clearance.

Hi! First, you want to upload your picture onto a photo storage site (http://www.photoisland.com or http://www.villagephotos.com - you will need to create an account, it's free) I recommend villagephotos.com for a smaller picture, like mine. A bigger one will take up too much space. So, upload your picture (it must be saved on your computer first as .jpeg or .jpg) after it is uploaded, the page will show you a small version of your picture(thumbnail-only on villagephotos.com) right click and then click on properties, you will see the URL for the picture, highlight, copy + paste it into your signature on your profile page (click on user options, on the top right-hand corner of the Hair Talk page, then under profile options click "manage") Or, if you just want to put it into a new topic thread on Hair Talk use the directions for photoisland below. Make sure, once you paste it into your signature, you put [ img ] before the URL and [ /img ] at the end, NO spaces. It should look something like this: [ img]URL address here[ /img] (Pretend there aren't any spaces)
For photoisland: create account, upload picture, then when your picture shows up in your album, click on it, scroll down, you will see on the lower left hand corner something to the effect of, "get link for auction" click on that, then you will get the URL for the picture, highlight, copy + paste into the new topic thread, then do this: Put [ img ] before the URL and [ /img ] at the end, NO spaces. It should look something like this: [ img]URL address here[ /img] (Pretend there aren't any spaces)
Hope this helps & isn't TOO confusing! If you need additional help, email me.... Manda14417@aol.com
