Hi, my girlfriend has been looking into trying either a leave in or deep conditioner to help with the condition of her hair, but is sort of hesitant about it. So I have some questions.

1) She's looking to go lighter this summer (she's a brunette), should she use a deep conditioner to help prepare or after to make sure her hair remains healthy?

2) What's a decent leave in conditioner, she's been recommended Paul Mitchell The Cream and Redken Extreme Anti-Snap. How often should she use it? She has fine to normal hair.

3) Is it over kill to have both?

Thanks for taking the time to read and possibly answer!

She really shouldn't have to prepare her hair too much to be lightened, other than the basics of;

Using a heat protection spray/creme when using heating appliances.
Using a protein treatment once a month, if her hair is in good shape. *No more often then that!*

After? Definitely, she'll need to baby it. Doing the things above, but along with these things.

Try to stay away from heat for a couple weeks, meaning no blowdryers, curlers, or flat irons.

If she's going to a professional for the lightening, she should ask them how often she should do a protein treatment, since they can access the damage properly. She'll need to get a good leave in, and Redken Anti Snap is excellent! The stylist can also recommend how often to use it.

A really nice conditioner is Queen Helene Cholesterol Creme, you can get it at Sally Beauty supply for a very fair price. One of my favorite conditioners.

I hope this helps a little bit.

doubt truth to be a liar.

Thanks a lot for the feedback r4ch3l much appreciated! Yeah I'll definetly have her ask her stylist how often she should be using the anti snap, and look into the Queen Helene Cholesterol Creme.

Thanks again!
