If you are talking about permanent curls.  A lot of people are using the apple perm.  You get from Sally's.  There you can pick which rods you choose for your curl pattern.

If you are using curling irons, Indian Remy holds heat curls better than CR.  Chinese hair is more coarse than India and bone straight and thicker in diameter per strand.  So it does not hold heat curls long.  However, if adding a permanent wave for curl or texture, IR hair takes a perm quicker and easier.  Chinese hair takes it but because the hair is more coarse, it does not process as fast as IR hair does.  I process IR virgin hair and it takes quickly.  Chinese Virgin takes a little longer because the hair is not as fine as IR and is more bone straight.  Both look good with a permanent wave.  But remember, if speaking about heat appliances, Chinese hair will not hold curls for very long because the hair is heavy.

Yes there is Virgin Indian Remy.  it is Virgin hair with no chemicals or treatment.  It will be straight or with a very slight wave.  It is rare to get a virgin curly Indian Remy.  Because it is rare, you will pay a pretty penny to buy one.  If someone is selling a Indian Remy wig and says it is virgin, but has a curl pattern, you can bet your money it is processed texture, unless you paid over $1300 for it.  I have seen sellers on ebay offering virgin indian remy but the hair has a curl pattern.  When question, they stated it was a virgin curl process.  Ladies, there is no such thing as a virgin curl process.  Either it is virgin hair or it is not.  Adding color turns a virgin hair unit into a  Remy hair unit.  It is no longer virgin.  Processed hair units will dry out faster than virgin hair.  Any chemical is drying to the hair and requires proper deep conditioning treatments.  Think of it just like your own hair.  When you put any chemical, be it perm or color, it makes the hair dry.  Thus need for moisterizers or hair oil.  (no oil on lace wigs please.)  This is why when my buyers what a curl or wave or certain color, I have them purchase virgin hair and I do a custom color or perm.  Because i use products made for hair, not dye made for clothes.  And this way, the cuticles are not stripped.  CV's put hair through a chemical bath to color or to add texture, which removes some of the cuticles, then it gets a silicone dip to soften the hair again.  Virgin is the best way to go.
