Hello! Before I even attempt to broach this subject with my colorist (who I know will try to talk me out of it) I would like to obtain any thoughts/advice as to whether it's possible to go from a level 6 red with auburn & mohagany undertones, to a blonde shade (see attached photo).
My hair is very long (almost to the tailbone) and is relatively good condition. My biggest concern is whether this can successfully be acheived without my ends being destroyed, thus having to sacrifice the length due to damage.

Honestly, no. Red is so hard to get out of the hair, it will take a lot of colour removers or bleaching to achieve this and more than likely cause a lot of damage to your hair, especially if you have colour build up ( colour on top of colour etc).
You could also ask the advice of your stylist, but I'm betting he or she is say the same, sorry.
You could maybe start of slowly with hi lights and over a good few months gradually achieve this, over time, but certainly not all in the one visit.

Color Diva, to be frank it will be near impossible for you to have bleached hair to your tailbone and for it to be healthy. The only way I can concieve this possible is if your hair is virgin (no color/chemicals at all) and you are a level 8 and above, and you would use a high lift dye. Even then the ends would probably need taking off as that hair has gone through a lot wear and tear already.
Unless you're willing to sacrifice length I don't think you can or should.
I agree with above posters. With super long hair and color processed hair, it is pretty tough to get red out and turn it blonde because of red's super warm base and blonde requires a base that's not too warm. Highlights may be the best but it will take a while to achieve the color you desire. Long bleached hair never really works well unless it's bleached from totally virgin hair. Best of luck!
Oh come on ladies. Just because you go red that does not mean you can never, ever go back or forward. I'm living proof, and my hair is in great condition. It took a while, but I got there. I used superior products and took my time over a weekend. By Monday morning, I was a blond!! And not a brassy one either!!! I did it and so can anyone else who is patient and willing to use the right stuff. If you want the details, then post a reply and I will explain the process. These days, no girl is tied to her hair, or her hair color!!!

I never said never, It can be a long process depending on what colour is on the hair, permanent red, semi/demi red, and if its colour build up. Red can be tricky to completely remove from the hair, but not impossible. I recommended the poster above done this gradually with hi lights over time to avoid to much damage to the hair. Condition of the hair is important to me and my clients.
