Hi guys, not been on for a while but as you're the Queens of advice, I thought I'd ask!
I'm constantly doing installs with fusion and over the last 2 weeks, a few of my clients seem to be suffering from extreme shedding! It's not a consistent problem I have (apart from the odd one or two) yet there have been at least 2 clients that have shed a lot within 2-3 weeks!
Could it be a dodgy batch of glue? Not really buying into that but I suppose it might be an option.
How do you deal with shedding problems? I always say to my clients that should they lose several whole bonds within 2 weeks then I'm happy to replace. I also say the same with excess shedding within the same time frame. I don't charge for this.
However, I've also checked with other clients that I've recently installed (as I always do in the event of problems) and they aren't having problems. Where do you draw the line? Some people shed from excess washing, styling etc whilst others have a genuine problem. Obviously I want everyone to be happy but I don't want to be correcting sel inflicted problems free of charge.
Well, it really depends on the type of fusion you are installing (hot or cold).
If this is hot fusion, the shedding could be because they had a leave-in conditioner in before the install. This prevents the glue from setting properly. Or if they washed it too soon after the install, this could loosen the glue.
If you are using hot fusion and bulk hair, this could be another problem. Try cutting the hair off a weft instead or cut 1/2 inch off the tip of the bulk strand before applying the hair.
If you are using the micro links, try clamping the links twice instead of just once. Also, be sure the client has no conditioner on pre-install as this will cause the links to slip. Lastly, if the client has silky straight hair and combs the hair while wet, the links could slip as well.
Hope this helps!!
