I want bright copper red extensions (color #31 I think) and can't seem to find them anywhere.  I'm thinking of purchasing some Bohyme soft wave and redying it to match my hair.  Has anyone done this?  Will the hair fall apart on me?

Thanks!

Hey lostgirl-
If you want to deposit a punkish red color on some bohyme, I suppose you can do it. If it is something you mostly deposit on the hair (that will wash out after x amount of shampoos) then I don't see how the quality would be affected.
I would then go for bohyme 613 (the lightest). Also, go for silky straight, this texture is the one supposed to last longer.
Otherwise you can try some thermofiber synthetic hair, I'm not an expert in that unfortunately, but you can get pretty much any color you want then.

Thanks for the info Frenchie :)  I actually found the color Bohyme I want!  Unfortunately it only comes in Bodywave.  I was hoping for something more curly to match my texture.  But I think I'll try the bodywave for a while :)

Bodywave I think is people's second fav. texture in terms of longevity.

I know this is an old post but I thought I would share my 2 cents with dying Boyhme hair.

I have been dying this hair for years and it takes color well....I dye new hair and watch the time and then test on my hair for the length I need to leave on...generally my hair takes the color much faster because I have very corse/dry hair so it accepts color fast.

I also will dye the hair if re-using on other installs and I will do it while it is isntalled...I just don't go all the way to the root/end where my tapes are on the wefts...now I go all the way to the roots on my hair on the top...just rinse well and waaaa -LA

I've dyed many other brands of hair as well and did just fine as well..even though everyone tell you they don't suggest it...but I have no other choice because no one makes my color either...I just buy a color as close as I can and a bit lighter so it will darken to the "red-ginger" color I want.
As I said I know this is a long ago post..but it may help someone else who is wondering the same thing!

Happy Hair Days!!
Thanks,
JeepGirl

Current install-Bohyme Bodywave #30 and #14 in the straight hair/ they didn't have the #14 in bodywave, so I mixed them...works great!

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice.  I did try to dye bohyme.  I went with a yellow blond (27 I think) since that was the color my hair currently was.  Tested the dye on the extensions for timing.  dyed the extensions, dyed my hair and installed. It looked amazing for about 4 days.  Unfortutnately as some of you may know, reds fade fast.  My hair did not fade at the same rate as the bohyme!  So I quickly had two completely different shades of red on my head and had to uninstall at about 1 and half weeks. :(
In conclusion I think dying Bohyme would work well for other colors that do not fade so quickly, or for people who will be installing massive amounts of extensions.  If you have more extensions than hair  (as I have sometimes had in the past) then the extension color will dominate and look fine no matter how "off" it is.
I think I am going to circumvent my problem by going for the two-tone look.  I have a very vivid unatural red shade atm, and I will be installing black extensions to show underneath.  Similar to the blond w/ brown underneath that a lot of girls do.  I will post pics when I'm done!  :)

DID you wash the Boyhme before you colored it...and was it new hair....I find it takes better  if you wash that coating off b4 coloring when it's new.

I haven't had any problems with it fading that fast...mine stays the same color as my own hair....hmmm....I post a picutre of my bohyme straight Ihad for over 6 months and I just keeping re-installing and coloring it.

Your hair is gorgeous!   The hair was brand new, but I didn't wash it prior to dyeing.  Maybe I will try again and mix some red in with my black extensions.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Ahhh thanks Lostgirl.....it's taken me awhile to finally get a bohyme color  that is close to my hair color and then I just color them both to a brighter ginger red or whatever color ya want to call me..all I know is no one carries a pretty ginger red that I want...and the 30's are too burgundy red for me....I like more of that ginger color.

Try leaving it on longer as well..maybe hit it with some heat from a blow dryer to help it process.
Thanks,
JeepGirl
