Try protein pack treatments. That will repair your hair. But unfortunately, you have to get all of the damage hair cut off. you can't repair damaged hair.
When you use a flat iron use either Redken Heat Glide or Moroccan Oil. This will help prevent any further damage. At a good protein treatment will help to repair. I like the Redken Extreme line.
Ouch, shaving your head to repair damage is kind of drastic people. I would invest in a really good hair repair treatment. You can get deep conditioning cooktails at your salon that range between 15-20 bucks. Also look into hair vitamins like argan oil. I use argan oil daily. Here's a review I wrote about it. http://bit.ly/frizzcure
Using heat causes brittleness, split ends, and definitely breakage. On top of that, excessive usage of heat dries out the hair. There are products out there that penetrate the cuticle of the hair shaft and are able to do some repair. I talk about them in my blog (see below). hope i helped!!

I keep hearing(reading) that heat methods of hair straightening cause damage.
A. What EXACTLY are you these damages? split ends ? dryer hair ? thinning of the hair ?
B. Are these damages reversible by stopping the heat method hair straightening? will the hair naturally go back to what it was before on it's on?
C. If I shave my head, will the new grown hair suffer from the damage?
