OMG! I have been hearing and reading so many good things about their products, and my catalog arrived today (better than bills). I understand there isn't too much breakage because the metal is so smooth, but I'm still hesitant to order one of their barrettes because I've had so-o-o much breakage and hair grabbing with other (ok, cheaper) metal barrettes. My hair is pretty thick, layered and wavy. Please let me know if your experience with france luxe metal clasps and ponytailers, etc. is good. I'd love to order some; their toys are so beautiful. Like I know where to begin shopping ! And the shipping is so cheap!Yeah, I'm new here! I'm looking forward to your replies. Thanks, everybody.

I haven't had any experience with them(yet) but, here is a link where others talk about their FL stuff. You could post asking about them(you will need to register first)

Sure 'nuff, there are two pages of comments on France Luxe over there. I believe I'll err on the side of caution and stick with the mostly non-metal toys. I still have a lot of choice. Thanks, Panda.

Well if you love France Luxe you need to check out the France Luxe pages at HairBoutique.com. They have over 22 pages of products. Many that are not in the France Luxe catalogs and lots of them are 100% hair friendly. Several of the items have no shipping charges. You have to look but some of the Couture clips and barrettes are free shipping.

I bought some of the their hairsticks and they are just gorgeous. All hand made.

I know that Karen adores France Luxe because she writes about their hair accessories all the time. We should ask her to post her experiences with them. (Karen are you listening?)

Hi all,

Cora...to answer your question......all of the France Luxe at HB.com's store have no shipping costs. We pay shipping on any France Luxe bought from us directly. The way you can tell is to look at the bottom of each item and if says "Free Ground Shipping" it means it is shipped UPS Ground. My apologies but this is only good in the Continental US but it does help saves a few bucks, which is always a good thing.

Best wishes,
Karen

Oh duh. I just reread the thread and I forgot to mention about whether the toys will rip your hair. All of the barrettes are made with very soft 14K gold fittings and have the pinch clip clasp which is less likely to rip or tear hair.

They also use 100% vegetable materials in the creation of the acrylics which is why they are so soft and have that buttery feeling. No animal products are ever used in the creation of the France Luxe items and everything is 100% recyclable. I adore France Luxe and yes, we do have 22 pages of products. I wear many of the pieces from the Barely There Barrettes to the ponytail holders and the slides. I also have several different hairsticks and jaws (which are unbelieveable soft and 100% hair friendly because there is no metal).

There are actually about 150 more FL items that have not yet made it into the HB store yet because it takes a little time to scan everything and write descriptions. :-( And I tend to have to look at everything a long time before I am willing to sell it.

Best wishes,
Karen

Well, if I wasn't totally enamored with the look of France Luxe to begin with, the fact that they are animal product free really sells me on them. I make a point of buying hair products that are free of animal products or not tested on animals. I'm so happy this board is here. I really appreciate everyone's input to all the threads, great advice can be found here. Thanks for the info, everyone; your spirit of generosity and good will is what drew me to this board.

Hi Jean,

Thank you for joining us. I for one love your posts.

By the way, I am almost finished with an article on the history of hairpins. Did you know that they have been around as long as the caveman? However, they were formally adopted by the Greeks and Romans. And yes, France Luxe mades hairpins. They are 14K gold with 100% animal free vegetable based acetate covered. :-)

Have a great day.

Best wishes,
Karen
