Don't brush it.

Instead, while it is drying, scrunch the hair with your hands to encourage the curl. Using a little mousse on damp har will set the curls.

If you want a more groomed look while keeping it curly, get a rake or an afro-comb and gently work it through the hair using short strokes.

I do the opposite, combing out the curls when wet so that the hair is straighter when dry. The day I leave it and just shake it dry - I am in wavy-curl city.

Hope that helps.

Hi Lindsay Lu! Welcome! Good question! My hair is wavy when it first dries, but it always falls flat when I comb it or brush it. Maybe I'll try a rake. Wow, I used to have one of those in the 80s when I had a perm!

Thanks Uzi! You're an endless wealth of knowledge.
