EMERGENCY: bleaching/dye

   Hi! Okay, well, I've been wanting to dye my hair red. Like, red red. I knew NOTHING about hair dye/bleach (I didn't even know what bleach was), so about 4 months ago I dyed my natural (somewhat) darkish brown hair with Garnier Nutrisse red hair dye. My mom said it would be permanet, I was dumb enough to think it would make my hair RED. It HARDLY worked. Plus, it faded within 7 days. So then, I used Manic Panic red hair dye. It worked a little better, but there was still a lot of brown. And, it faded within 2 days. So now, I've been studying a lot about bleach, hair dye, etc. I now know a lot more, and regret what I did before :L. 

Alright. So now, my plan is to bleach my hair with Raw White Out kit from Hot Topic. I don't know if I should use 30 volume or 40 or any other. At the moment, my hair is a kinda light brown (not like a blonde brown). But, after looking at reviews and what other people said, I'm kinda afraid. They say "You're hair can get really damaged by bleaching it." So, I'm thinking about this all. 
After I bleach it, I'm going to use Manic Panic hair dye, red of course. I know it fades pretty quick, so I'll probably try other colors when the red's all out. But again, I'm afraid to bleach it. Oh yeah, and people say their hair turns out to have some yellow or orange instead of pure blonde. Is it safe for me to do this? I need help!

Again, I don't know much about hair dye/bleach, so will you help me? Thanks anyone who took their time to read this/help. :}
