Have You Tried Feather Hair Extensions?

I have some questions.  Why go to all the trouble to use bead to attach to your hair when you can just clip the feathers in? 
 
When the feathers are more permanently attached, aren't they harder to care for during washing and styling of the hair?  Wouldn't it be easier to just clip them in and unclip them to wash and style hair?
 
What am I missing?
