I vote hair of the night award goes to Halle Berry! So glad she came to her senses and went back to her short look! Michelle Williams looked gorgeous too! I was disappointed that Sandra Bullock had hers pulled back, I was looking forward to the bangs again. As for all the gals with long hair...i was glad to see so many of them wear it down. If it's long then i'm a fan of seeing it!
We all know what opinions are like...and I've got both!

My wife and I both laughed at Reese's hair....maybe back in 1950 it would of been a hit but seemed out of context now.
Otherwise, not impressed by many...but am sick of Scarlett's bed head look....she is so pretty but kills her look with that hair.

I personally LOVED Jennifer Lawrence's hair (and dress)!  So i have to disagree with you on the hair/roots part.  It seems endearing on her part since she's doing the whole "I'm just a regular girl bit", true or not.  She seems to have a bit of an Ellen Page vibe (slightly tomboyish and totally down to earth).  I've been a fan of her's since her Bill Engvall Show days and really watched Winter's Bone simply for her.  Watched part of the awards show to see if lightening would strike and she'd win. It didn't.  WB won nothing lol.  Typical but I digress.

Anyway, I liked the simplicity of her whole "image" tonight.  Again, great dress. Specifically when they showed the clip of the movie when giving the award for best female, and they cut to her as the clip ended and showed her bursting into laughter.  Point is it felt very down to earth on her part (granted she could have faked it - actress, and all).    If she's have had a "fresh" color/dye job it would have made her seem too dolled up (to  me at least). My ineloquent point: The dress was glamorous enough, so the roots actually made her seem "approachable".

As far as Erin Andrews goes...why was she even there?  I have nothing against her lol.  She does a respectable job as a sports reporter, but why was she there...if she's a celebrity as a sports reporter, then athletes are celebrities more than qualify!  Troy Polamalu and his hair would have been a better fit as attendees than her. But that's my rant and I digress, yet again.

PS anyone notice Sandra basically hiding the bangs away? lol.

Two more. Can one of the reporters have the best hair of the night? I present Erin Andrews:

Amy Adams at a pre-Oscar party:

After the red carpet walk and the opening hour of the 2011 Academy Awards...

Thumbs Up:

Anne Hathaway: Our hostess looks fantastic in every style she's worn tonight.

Melissa Leo: Comparing her actual hair to that blonde, dried up mop she ha in "Fighter" deserves an award in itself. Think she uttered the F word on purpose in her acceptance speech? I do.

Reese Witherspoon: Loved the old-time ponytail. Her fall looked so much better than her actual hair. http://cache2.asset-cache.net/xc/109481507.jpg?v=1&c=NewsMaker&k=2&d=77BFBA49EF87892102A727B1636DE2E6BCFBD4CD768901BE5A0E59C5316D0B73D2C4E9DD2807E9AD

Jennifer Lawrence: From afar, she would have been my favorite. Love the hairstyle, love the dress, hate the roots. Next time, ask Gwyneth Paltrow for advice: http://cache2.asset-cache.net/xc/109478475.jpg?v=1&c=NewsMaker&k=2&d=77BFBA49EF87892102A727B1636DE2E6163EB4AABADEB9F0AFE4604A0D47D19A1CD5B8C44A731A93

Thumbs Down:

Nicole Kidman: A ponytail plus a couple loose strands floating in your eyes does not an Academy-Award-winning style make. http://cache2.asset-cache.net/xc/109479120.jpg?v=1&c=NewsMaker&k=2&d=77BFBA49EF87892102A727B1636DE2E6F493178D87BCB763AFE4604A0D47D19A7865BD3FEEB4E6C8

Marissa Tomei: I don't like her new cut/style.
