I have been trying on and off to get a nice old hollywood copper redhead look. Most of the reds ive used turned strawberry blond and were way too subtle. Auburns were too brown or too purple tinted.
So I thought id try to go more vivid in hopes that it will get me that lush copper red of the 40's
So I saw a girl on youtube had the color i wanted, I did exactly what she did using Ion 7IR Medium Intense Red Blonde, I pre-lightened my light brown hair to a sunny gold, waited a few days then used the 7IR with a 30v developer and left it on for 40 minutes.
When i washed it all out my hair was bright vivid clown red..not the look I was going for lol
Its too pink/red and a bit neon, if it had more copper to it then i think it would be perfect
So how do i get this toxic red to a more coppery red? and to tone down the neon'ness a bit?
Here i am LOL
and below is similar to what i want

You could try clarifying it, it will pull the color out better which should dull down that brightness (which I do think looks very nice on you)

Thank you :)
I think it faded a teeny bit since I did it, I like the orange tones but its that pink tone that I dont like.
I thought about waiting a few weeks and trying a semi permanent color over it in a light red brown...not sure what the outcome of that would be?

you should add some neutral brown dye to the formula. What is your natural haircolor? Pure red dyes can look artificial.

But I must say I like your current haircolor, I think it looks nice and edgy :)

The picture you show that you want has violet hues. You could have filled your hair with the underlined pigment that you wanted then used the fashion color on top of that
