I got my hair relaxed 7 months ago. I'm currently growing it out. I am thinking of getting it highlighted but not sure if I'm able to because of the relaxing.

Besides the relaxing, how many other times have you done something chemical to your hair? If the relaxing was the first time you've done something and you've been gentle to it for the 7 months with trims, etc, I would think that it would be ok to highlight. But, if you're heavy on the chemical treatments, you should probably wait. I'd ask a stylist either way. But, make sure it's a stylist that you can trust!
Was it a perm you relaxed, or naturally curly hair?

I bought some batteries, but they weren't included.

Hi Kathy! Thanks for your response . Anyway, to answer your questions

1. No, I haven't done anything to my hair in the last 7 months. That was the only relaxing / chemical treatment I have ever given my hair.

2. I relaxed my naturally curly hair.

I'm going to stop by my salon today to ask them just to be on the safe side.

Hi Cherryish..it's probably your best bet to do what you're doing and going to a salon to ask because I wouldn't want to steer you the wrong way! I hope you had good luck.

7 months. That is a very long time. I suggest you get a hair treatment before doing highlights.

Hi Cherryish

How long do you plan to grow out your hair? Long hair shows damage a lot more easily than short, and especially with curlies who often need moisture, chemicals make hair more brittle. If you're going for anywhere waist length and beyond, I wouldn't recommend exposing your hair to any chemicals (including highlights).

Best of luck
Anais
