I hate to leave the house. My hair just keeps getting worse and worse. I dont remember ever getting a hair cut I liked. My hair never looks good.

I'm now a point in my life, living on a farm, kids, homeschooling them etc etc etc. I need a 'natural' hair style. Wash n wear.

My hair is just past shoulder length, almost all one length (for the first time in my life - thought Id try something different). Bottom is wavy to curly, top is straight. AND ALL is EXTREMLY FRIZZY. I have course hair. It is not thin, but not really thick either. In between, but the course hair & friz makes it look thicker.

I tried Redkens smooth line. Made my hair softer. Less frizz, but still frizz, and no curl.

I tried I think it was Matrix smooth line. It takes out all curl, but still frizz.

I would like to keep my curl and even add more. Stop trying to straighten it and stop working against my hair.

What products should I try. Any ingredients I should look for, watch out for? Would a perm help or hurt?

Any home hair dyes good/bad for frizzy hair. Dying always seems to help rid frizz (but also rids curls) for about one week.

Any suggestions? I'm tired of hiding.

Oh and this time the store sold me Biosilk Hydrating shampoo and Biosilk silk therapy conditioner. So far I feel this one has been the most drying shampoo I've tried other than suave I tried once.

I've looked at KMS curl line, but havent tried.

I used to use PM many moons ago, and liked it then, but my hair was completely different thin. Thin and straight. Changed after kids.

Curly hair can be so difficult when you don't know how to treat it; it is usually very fragile, easily damaged and can be very picky about what products it does and doesn't like.

If your hair is color-treated, start by using a gentle shampoo for color-treated hair. I use Biolage for color-treated hair; it's amazing how much of a difference it makes in the feel of my hair and even though pricey $12/bottle, it lasts a long time. Anyway, i like their conditioners too and am hooked on Aussie's 3 minute repair treatment as a deep treatment. You should use a deep treatment once a week; apply, wrap your head with saran wrap, throw a damp towel in the microwave for 10-15 seconds until warm and wrap on your head for at least 10 minutes.

I only wash my hair every 2-3 days and find it's healthier than ever. Try a leave-in conditioner like Infusium23, this will help moisturize and hopefully eliminate some frizzies. for me, a gel is the best way to go for my curls. I used to use Tresseme Mega Hold (1.87 at Wal-Mart) and just switched to Suave Professionals Firm Hold gel, (Walmart for 1.64) a knockoff of Biolage gelee and get great curl definition. Jojoba oil is a main ingredient which proves to be very moisturizing.

I have scores of tips and ideas on how to care for your curly hair to help it fit into your lifestyle. Send me a board mail or e-mail me at farrahlyn@yahoo.com if you would welcome some more information. There's just too much to write down here.

I've tried different Tresseme and suave products a long time ago. My hair was worse then, than it is now. My hairstylist said it was the JUNK products I was using........so I'm hesitant to ever try those again.

Looking for something better. I'm not rich at all, but the products last so long, that I dont mind paying for the good stuff if I could find ones that worked!

I've never liked the Suave products either; they always seemed to really dry out my hair and never provided any moisture. However, their new Professionals line are all knockoffs of professional hair products and after another forum recomended it i figured it was so inexpensive i should at least try it.

Maybe you would be more apt to try the Biolage gelee, then? I've heard great things about it and after trying Suave's knockoff of it am really tempted to try it. You can get another knockoff of the Biolage gelee at Sallys' called Bioterra, some even report better results with Bioterra than Biolage.

The biggest problem for curly hair is ingredients like drying alcohols and 'cones. Alcohol, obvious; some are fatty alcohols though, like Cetyl alcohol. 'Cones coat your hair and look great for a few uses but the product continues to build up and results in limp or frizzy hair. Then you have to use a clarifying shampoo to strip product out and end up with dry hair again. cones as a lesser ingredient aren't as bad but anything with, oh say, Silicone or Dimethecone as one of the top 4 ingredients are trouble. It's tough to find products with good ingredients, even some salon products can be worthless on curly hair. Tresseme used to be a salon product only but you said it didn't help so, just because it's inexpensive and not a salon product does not mean it won't work for you and viceversa.

Curly hair takes a lot of experimenting but once you find the right products it will look beautiful

Edited to say: E-mail me for a great site on taking care of your curls and tips and reviews on products for only curly haired gals.
