A month ago I got 6 in cut off so I now have short hair. What a BIG mistake I made. I thought it would look sporty and fresh & it might, but I HATE it. I want my length back. My hair is healthy and I only wash it twice a week in summer and once a week in the winter. Question-I want to buy a good shampoo and conditioner. What kind do you recommend? I have naturally curly hair so I need a good conditioner too. Between washings I use Infusium Leave in cond. Basically tell me what is the good stuff & I will get it & what is your regimen to maintaining healthy hair?

Do you recommend hair cuts? I really don't trust myself to go to my hair dresser. I think I will go a yr without a trim then when I have some length start going to the George Michael Salon.

I hope to learn a lot from you all and get the encouragement to grow my hair. I have always dreamed of waist length hair & now I am ready to make my dream a reality (even though I know it will take a few yrs to get there).

About me. I am a full time student at the age of 29. I spent 6 yrs in the navy. I have 2 cute kids and a wonderful supportive husband. I live in Fort Worth, TX, although orginally from MD.

Thanks!
Tracie

Yeah! Another Tracie! I am Traci.

I can't really help you out with product recommendations, because my hair is naturally straight. I wish it were curly!

But I just wanted to say congrats on your commitment to growing your hair out long. Welcome to the board! Visit and post often!

WELCOME TRACIE

So nice to have you join our merry band !!

With regard to product recommendations, I vote for the Phytotherathie range which you can purchase from the HairBoutique MarketPlace.

I think not cutting you hair for a year to maximize length before having a trim, is a great plan.
And a visit to a GM salon for said trim is also very wise.

I second what SuperGrover said: Post often!!!

Inspired by Uzi's rewording of Lennon's "Imagine," I decided to re-word the old Dentyne ad... "4 out of 5 dentists recommend sugarless gum for their patients who chew gum." (Dentyne, you can b-mail me my royalties).

No chance of falling asleep early here tonight, accidentally or intentionally. Sounds like a war zone outside with all the fireworks revelry.

LOL I get "punchy" late at night, too. I'm known to laugh at absolutely everything.

I'm watching Pulp Fiction. I love this movie.
How's THAT for off-topic? Hahahaha! at Dave. Try to stop me.

Royale with Cheese!

I know there's at least one 70s song about having long hair... I can't think of them right now though.

OK, I'm gonna put the computer down and go chill with Vincent and Jules, mutha f*%ka.

Say 'what' again, mutha f**ka, say 'what' again!

Get out Tracy(supergrover)!!! Pulp Fiction In one of my ALL TIME favorites! I went and saw it at the theatre 5 times and I dunno how many after. I love John Travolta - esp with long hair!!!

The scene where they are standing in the kitchen covered in brains, commenting on how delicious the coffee is.....classic!

Welcome to the boards Tracy!!
I use all natural products on my hair by Aubrey and Avalon as well as Jojoba oil on the ends....Read a thread below where a lot of us are listing our hair regimens. I learned a lot from that thread.

Yeah! Me too. I've seen it a million times.
I'm 2 degrees from Quentin Tarentino! My friend used to date him, before he was famous. But I've never met him though.
Anyway, that means you're 3 degrees from him!

Oooh and I'm 3 degrees from Samuel L Jackson! I love him. He's one of my favorite actors. Him and Kevin Spacey. The 2 of them always choose great scripts, so I know I'll like a movie if they're in it. I really like The Negotiator then, obviously.

My favorite scene is where Jules and Vincent take over the apartment and Jules shoots the guy on the couch. "Oh I'm sorry did I break your concentration?"

I think it disturbs my mother that I can laugh my head off at both this movie and Reservoir Dogs. But I don't live with her anymore, so it's OK. But I remember the first time I watched the movie at home and mom was in the kitchen and shouts "What are you watching in there?" ROTFL.

Anyway, Tarentino's next movie is "Kill Bill" and was supposed to be out forever ago but still is not. Travolta is in it, and Uma Thurman, too I think. It's got a pretty detailed listing on imdb.com but I haven't checked it in awhile.

I can't believe you like Reservoir Dogs! I loved it, Christian Slater....yum!

Yes, Tarantino has succeeded where Oliver Stone falls short. QT has been able to pull of the technique of "killing as almost humorous" where Stone takes it a few levels too far and just misses it(think Natural Born Killers, U-Turn). I have read alot about this type of directing as it is one of my my favorite Genres. I am so looking forward to "Kill Bill" I didn't know it was in the making. Thanks for the info SG.

Yours in growing! Jacqui

Oh I'm sorry. Not Travolta, but Samuel L Jackson and Uma Thurman. As well as Lucy Liu.

http://us.imdb.com/Title?0266697

You'd think Quentin would want to work with some different talent every once in awhile. But I guess when you've found something that works...
