Red gloss over blonde highlights?

I have blonde highlights that I like in summer but I want to put a demi-permanent or red gloss in for winter that will wash out.  Basically, I don't want to have to pull through highlights all the way through the ends of my hair next summer because my hair is so damaged on the ends. I was hoping that I could try a red gloss that wont stain or alter my blonde permanently. Is this possible?

Also, my hair is dry, coarse and curly. Is a glaze/gloss color still a good idea? I read that it might come out uneven. I'm not about to cut my split ends off because my curly hair would turn into an Afro puff.
