I need some quick advice. I have shoulder length black hair and have been asked to step into a part for an amateur dramatics play which will run for about 4 weeks over Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun each week. It''s a period piece and both the costumer and make-up girl want me to have my hair styled into spiral waves/loose curls.
The make-up girl thought she could create temporary curls initially by just braiding my hair wet and then taking them out before each show. But the curl isn''t coming out as well as she hoped with my thickish coarse hair and also it''s pretty much drooped before the end of the performance.
She''s contacted a hair stylist friend who''s offering to do a spiral wave perm. But I would sooner avoid this if I can (not least because I don''t want to have spiral waves all the time).
Does anyone have any other alternatives they can suggest. And IF I did the spiral wave perm, how does that work? Is it different from a regular perm in any way?
Hi Rob, I hope this isn't too late for you. I put in some temporary spiral waves into my hair for a party about six months ago. I just used a curling iron and spiralled my hair around it. I think you may even be able to get special curling irons for spiral waves. I think there are loads more options than going down the permanent route.
