Personally and in my humble opinion, I think she needs a fringe to soften her forehead area. 

I like the new hair cut but she has natural wavy hair...or so it appears...so I am thinking she could really go with lots of texture as her hair grows a little.
 
Even a side-swept long fringe like below IMHO helps to balance her face shape.
