When I saw Miss Florida Kristina Janolo on tonight's Miss America broadcast, her hair was quite a bit shorter than most of the other "misses." I remember a long time ago that a Miss "somebody" from an Asian country had super long hair when she won that title, but cut much of it off before the actual then-Miss Universe Pageant because of the heat in the place that hosted the competition. So I wondered if Miss Florida had done the same.

A pageant veteran, Kristina did indeed have longer hair in previous competitions.

I remember that! It was around 1973 (we are dating ourselves Kramer), and if memory serves, it was Miss Japan. I remember Bob Barker specifically asking her about her hair, and she said something like "Greece is too hot!" in broken English. She didn't win the title, but she was one of the 5 finalists.

She caught my eye from the beginning. Did ya'll notice that of the top 15, only four were blondes? and they were eliminated quickly so the entire top five were brunettes.
