orangey/red to light brown?

So I dyed my hair with a 28-washed-and-its-gone medium red hair dye. and now i have orangish/pink hair where my blond sun streaks were and a medium reddish brown on the other parts. i can only take orange hair for so long...so I'm thinking of doing a 28days wash out light golden brown over the top of it to try and mute some of the orange/red/pink. Has anybody done this before??? and what results?
