Hi,
I'm a guy with normal short hair. I want to dye my hair darker from
ginger/red to light brown but have no idea what the first step is.
I am clueless, can someone point me in the right direction please.
I am looking for hair dye that isn't fully permanent but also that I do
not need to keep dying each day, perhaps every 1 or 2 weeks will be ok.
What do I need?
Here's the scoop, if you don't want to go with a permanent color your added color will fade quickly and will eventually wash out.
A bigger question is how long is your hair? Do you get it cut on a regular basis? Why dont' you want to consider permanent color?
The good news is that since you're going from ginger/red to brown you won't have to bleach or lift the color. However, you might have to go a little darker than light brown to completely cover the ginger/red.
The other issue with semi-perm is that as the color naturally washes off and/or fades the underlying ginger will start to show through and the combo with the brown might not be a color you love.
Please let me know your thoughts so I can help suggest some steps and options.
Have a great weekend.

I would consider the Clairol Professional Demi at Sally's. They have a Dark Ash Blonde and a Light ash Brown. You will need the ash since you are counteracting a reddish base. Ash tends to look better on guys anyways.
I would try the 4A Alone Clairol Professional Demi or Mix with a 6A to get a lighter brown + Their Dedicated Developer and leave it on for the full processing time so you get complete coverage.
