Has anyone else tried the Soy Salvation Hair Masque? I just used it for the first time today, and a.) it is by far not the best treatment I have ever used - my everyday conditioner works better, and b.) a bunch of my hair fell out!

I know shedding is normal, but this is like at least four times the usual amount. I've only ever had this happen a couple times before with certain brands of hair dye, back when I was dyeing my hair. Is there something weird about this Soy Salvation stuff; am I missing something here? I bought four separate packs (they say to use 6 but that's all that was in stock that day), so I am taking the rest back to the store here in a few minutes.

Anyone have any bad/weird experiences like this? Can someone recommend a *good* deep conditioner/treatment?

Thanks,
Kim

Just an update - I took the rest back to Trade Secret and got my 10 bucks back on my card. Woowoo. The lady working there that day was not very helpful at all and basically did not care what the product they had sold me had done to my hair. I asked if it could be one of the ingredients and she just shrugged and sent me on my merry way with my refund.

So, I headed down to the other salon - the one where I intend to get my hair trimmed eventually - and I asked someone working there. Not only was she very helpful, she also made absolutely no attempt to sell me anything. They do not carry that particular product, so she couldn't look at the ingredients, but she gave me the company's 800 number and told me to get back to her with whatever they tell me. She strongly suggested that I complain, because even if the company does nothing for me, they should know what their product is doing, and if enough people have the same issue, they'll have to do something about that product.

I think I am in love with that salon.

My hair seems fine today - no excess shedding. I haven't shampooed it yet, but have the feeling it won't be falling out in the shower either.

I am so sorry to hear about your experience. I am happy that your hair seems to be recovering from the assault upon it and you got your money back (small consolation if your hair was ruined).

My wife has been using L'Oreal Nature's Therapy Mega Moisture Nurturing Creme - a long name for a great product. It does wonders for her hair (makes it feel like silk) in just 5 minutes without a heat cap.

Here is the product description from Sally's. I hope you one near you.

Good luck and I hope you find something that works really well for you.

Good you got your money back. I'd be interested to know what the "1-800" people say. Is this Soy Salvation Hair Masque like a deep conditioner? I've been using Paul Mitchell Super Charged Moisturizer and it is OK for deep conditioning but the effect doesn't last very long (just a few days).

I have to second Nature's Therapy. Great stuff and smells wonderful. I've given some to a couple friends and they ALL liked it--that doesn't happen often! It goes on sale at Sally at least every few months, and even then it's cheaper than most conditioners at TS.

Hi Gollan! Welcome to the board. Hope you enjoy reading and participating here.

Hi Kim! The soy salvation hair masque sounds like it was atroci-ous for you I do not know what to recommend because I don't use such products. My hair seems to be reasonably happy with regular deep conditioners, such as Edwin Paul Deep Conditioner, Aveda Curressence, and KMS Strategy Reconstructor.

Glad to hear you got a refund when you returned the product, too.
