Have they figured out yet what causes alopecia aerata/totalis/universalis? Does the latter always
start as the former, and can it be treated in all cases if discovered early? How big a chance is there that aerata gets to be a worse form? Is hair lost from stress a form of alopecia?

Duke,
I have alopecia Universalis and I Have done a lot of researching on alopecia. No one really knows what causes alopecia. I know that alopecia is NOT stress related. I am in good health, and I have my fair share of stress just like anyone else. I believe that alopecia is genetic or an auto ammune disease. There are many different types of trial and error treatments and for some they work. I have tried everything but nothing has worked. I now of a person with alopecia areata and she is trying the shots to the bald spots and they seem to be working. Alopecia is very mysterious. I know a woman who has had alopecia all of her life, it grew back acouple of times then it would fall out again. it was usually about every seven years, which is supposedly when your cells in your body change. Also in her case her hair would fall out agian when she would become pregnant. So like I said it is very unpretictable. If you have anymore questions contact me at kakastew@hotmail.com

Erica,
You wrote some months ago stating that you have complete baldness with alopecia universialis. It would be interesting to know what some of your experiences are as a bald woman. I know that contrary to the myth, many men find bald women very beautiful, when a woman does not have hair you can really see her beautiful feminine features, plus smooth skin, on the head as well as on the legs or underarms is very sensual and feminine.
My wife wears her hair very short and sometimes shaves her head smooth and bald, to please herself because she likes the look, and to please me, because I find her so beautiful and sexy bald!
Because some women fashion models, female rock stars, actresses, etc. are wearing very short hair or shaving their heads nowadays, there is a growing subcult of men and women who really appreciate and love the bald look on women. I would love it if you shared with us some of your ideas and experiences as a beautiful bald woman!
Much love lovely bald Erica!
