I mean to post this before the holiday, but it slipped my mind. This is a short story called "Gift of the Magi," which no doubt some of you have read before:

It's appropriate here because it's about a young woman whose pride and joy is her beautiful long hair. The story is beautiful and bittersweet. I love it.

I read it in 9th grade also...it made me very sad and happy too...
