QuoteReplyTopic: Hair for husband Posted: February 29 2000 at 10:31pm
I just came across pictures of the most awsome hair on a guy. Since my husband has express interest in growing his hair, I'd like him to consider something like this style. But I'm afraid he'd say no, since a lot people might consider it "feminine". I do NOT. A masculine man with georgous hair like that... oh my!
If your husband has naturally curly hair, it would look great. Unfortunately, all of us wanting long hair like that seem to fall short (pun intended) or just don't have that type of hair.
i think your husband is a luckt man to have a lady who is into hair enough to have you want him to do his hair for you i wish my gal would do that for me i would cut curl or any thing for a gal kajon
Actually, I think I remember this guy in an earlier post writing in when his hair was a bit shorter, still down to his tits, atlest. I seem to recall that he works with his stylist and does his hair in rollers to get those awesome curls. He does look great doesn't he?

Sorry, to me that kind of hair does not belong on a guy. He looks like he put a wig on for a joke. That style IS too feminine for a guy!!
I know I've posted a little late, but I had to comment on this. I don't have a problem per se about men with longish hair, but that's pushing the envelope a little too far.

Can you say double standard? There is nothing wrong with that type and length of hairstyle on a guy as long as he keeps it clean. What do you have to say about these girls with crewcuts and even shaved bald. Hair is hair and lengths and styles should not be associated with gender. Why? Because every person is different and has different features and if a certain style fits that person and looks good then they should be able to wear it regardless if it is a girl or a guy and regardless of the length and style. Most guys really lose out because they cave to people like you with these stereotypical attitudes and get the crewcut or very short cut. Well I am a guy and I have a bob to just below my ears with bangs. I love it and it fits my face and features. It's time that people stopped associating boys with short hair and girls with long hair because girls threw that out the window in the past couple of decades with these short boyish cuts.

Obviously you haven't read my post to you that I posted a couple of days ago on your thread "follow the crowd or be yourself".
Getting back to this thread, as for women with those kind of hair styles I usually don't like that either. So, you can't accuse me of a double standard.
What I really think is, like I said before, that I don't have a problem with long hair on guys, or short hair on women, as long as the style is right for them. Now, cuts that look masculine on women and feminine on guys, I really don't like. Once in awhile a woman can wear a masculine style but she is able to make it look feminine or right on her. There are men maybe who can wear a feminine style and make it look masculine. I don't put you into the latter category because I think the style you described is a male style from medieval days, and like I said in my post to your thread, I actually like this kind of style on different guys. Please read the other post on your thread before you answer here, then maybe you can understand this post better.
As for this man in the pictures, I stand by what I say. He looks ridiculous in my opinion. At the very least, this style doesn't suit him. Too feminine. If you can wear long hair or whatever style and not have it look like a feminine style, then great. This guy has hair swung over his head like women wear long hair-not guys. The hair doesn't even match his mustache. Sorry, I just don't think this particular hairstyle is for a guy to wear.
Just my own opinion, Happyblonde

I just wanted to say that I didn't mean to say that the man in the picture himself looks ridiculous. I think he's quite attractive. I just don't like the style he's chosen. Just wanted to be clear on that.
Thanks, Happyblonde

I didn't mean for it to sound like I was bashing you or anything. I just haven't had anyone tell me what defines a feminine style verses a masculine style and why it matters. A hairstyle should be chosen based on facial features and face shape not on whether it is long or short and the masculine /feminine thing should be thrown out the window. I am in the process of getting some pictures developed and if you can provide me your e-mail I would like to get your opinion on it if you don't mind.
So here's what I think: It's o.k. to want to try a hairrstyle that you see on a girl that might work for you and of course a girl try a guy's hairstyle-but if it still makes you look the opposite of what you are, then I would ditch the style, no matter if it's suppposed to help your features or face shape.
Should styles be considered masc/fem.? Let's look at an example-now this is for kids, but maybe this will put this in perspective: Think about a little boy in little girl's curly pigtails. Now, I don't care what's politically correct, THAT would not go on over well with most people. I guess the answer to the masculine haircut/feminine haircut is this: A truly feminine hairstyle only looks right on women (most of the time), while truly masculine lend themselves to a neutral look a lot of the time and since that's the case women can get away with gender-bending cuts more than men can get away with feminine looking cuts, because usually these styles can look sporty and again the word that keeps showing in my mind is "neutral".
Whether you want the terms thrown out the window I guess is a non-issue (not to say that your thoughts don't matter). There will always be decidedly masculine or feminine styles and that's always how people will think of them. Maybe your style really doesn't look feminine, and you just live in a hick area that only likes one certain style (barber shop cookie cutter style) on guys. That may very well be, because I used to live in a hick area like that.
Feel free to send me your pictures-I will tell you honestly what I think about the style. You already know that I like tha style already on some guys from what I wrote in the other thread, so my opinion won't be biased because of a long hair/short hair preference.
