Hey, I`m in the same boat as you. I`m trying to grow out my hair too but all I end up with is the bushy/curly afro as well. I`m guessing your hair is curly... so, try a little light weight/leave in type product to tame it down alittle while not weighting it down so much that it doesn`t curl and look/act "unatural". Maybe a real light hold gel or some mousse will work. The best stuff I`ve found so far is a product by frizz ease - the mousse. Frizz ease doesn`t give me perfect hair but it helps.. for now. Anyways, it`s the best product I`ve found, maybe someone else knows of something that would work better - I`m all ears.
Also, if you have dry hair make sure you condition it everytime you wash it and don`t wash it every day.
hope this helps,
Will

Hi all, I`m a 17 yr old guy tyring to grow out my hair. I just came back from a not-so-good experiense with a hairdresser who really didn`t solve my problems. I`ve got dry, thick, and frizzy hair that looks like I just popped out of the 70s! (well, sort of..)
I can`t stand short hair. I dislike short haircuts. Any advise on how to take care of my hair, prevent split ends, make it smooth and manageable and grow properly without looking bushy? I don`t like using gel either. Too messy and unatural :)
Any advise at all is appreciated, thanks in advance!
