Okay, I was just thinking about hair lenght and the forehead over the head to ends method. Some people's hairline starts earlier than others. Some people have big forheads, some average or smaller. So if you have a smaller forhead you might be able to measure an additional inch or two onto your lenght compaired to a persons whose hairline starts higher.

so is this method really any good? maybe we should stand against a wall and have someone mark the top of our head and the ends of our hair for a more accurate lenght measurement.

well, the way I see it, the forhead to end measurement makes sense because it's the total length of hair that can be seen on a person. Sure, it doesn't take account for details, but differences in forheads should not affect the total amount of hair.

As with any measurement, it's not perfect. It's just like weight. Muscle is heavier than fat, so a heavier person could have more muscle and be more toned. It's impossible to tell by a number.

Yes, your right...but I like thinking that if my hairline started sooner i might have an extra inch on.

Hey Erinlynn,

One of the "benefits" of measuring this way is that whenever you measure your own hair, you have a consistent point of reference. It helps you know how fast your hair grows.

Besides, if a different point of reference were used, such as the center of the crown of the head, it is difficult to consistently identify that point. Add to that, that everybody's head shape and size are different, and comparing yourself to others is always produces "apples to oranges" results... at least we're all human.
