I have seen this hairstyle on TV several times now and just saw it in real-life.
The very back and sides are about an inch (or maybe a bit more in length) increasing to 4-5 inches at the crown (These lengths are cut about one inch about the ears - maybe bleached to give this effect). The style can be worn with a side parting or centre parting.
