hey, well I have a problem, a big problem for a few years now....

my hair, is EXTREMLY thick, I totally hate it. My hair is also straight and brown. It simply just grows up and it seems like my hair is just too big for my head.... kind of weird, I know..

sorry, I really cant post any pictures, but I am trying to describe it as best as I can.

not only does it grow thick, it grows fast.

Currently it about an inch off my head and I was thinking of growing it long, well not too long, just long enough to have a ponytail. Just wondering, can I achieve this, and if so, how can I achieve it (what accessories should I use, and how often should I go to get my hair cut).

I tried it previously for about 5 months of growth, and it just didnt work. It just kept on growing outward instead of down. I really didnt like the person who was cutting my hair.

Currently, I am using Nioxin, I used Paul Mitchell Tea tree before.

I have no clue how to maintain and control hair, so hopefully you guys can help me out!

I am a few months ahead of you in a similar situation. Zero clue about "styling" my hair and trying to grow it long enough for a ponytail.

Here is what I've figured out: Find a good stylist. There will be a period between short and long called "sh--." That's what you banged up against last time, and I've done the same.

The stylist I go to is at an Aveda salon. They have a line of products called "Brilliant" that seems to work for me.

Frankly, it even took me a while to figure out the "product" stuff. I tried as hard as possible to ignore it, but there is a point where you have to if you want to look presentable. My hope is that once my hair is long enough to braid, I can stop using all that junk.

Good luck.
