hello all... i had mid-back length hair, all one layer. i needed a new style and my hair stylest suggested layers. she gave me extreme layers around my (round) face and layers on top. right now my longest layer is the middle of my back and the layers on top are around my chin. when she finished it was beautiful. it was like movie star hair, the best my hair has ever looked. of course now i cant even make it look presentable. she had each section of layer sweeping in different directions, it framed my face beautifully. i try and try...but it looks like a two year old got ahold of scissors and just chomped away. the face layers actually make my cheeks fat and unflattering. Im thinking about going back and having it all cut off. Any suggestions on saving my beautiful hairstyle hidden under this mess????????????????? thanks, mel

Hi melissaredhead before you go and do anything as drastic as getting all your hair cut to one length...I would call the hairdrresser that initally styled your hair. Perhaps she can give you another appointment and show you just how she styled it. I would most definantly pay the extra $ if it ment saving my locks and feeling better about myself.

Unfortunately, a curling iron is your only option besides perming, which harms the hair's texture. It seems that every other layer cut I see is horrid. So many "pros" have no idea what they are doing when it comes to layers. My wife has fine hair and no patience for styling. Layering would mean the end of her near-waist gorgeous hair, as it once did back at shoulder length years ago. Never again, if I have any say! (lol) Good luck with that curling iron, Melissa. If you love your length, go the way of beautiful curls, in my opinion. Good luck! Bob

I agree that you should go to the salon and ask the stylist to show you how to do your hair. When I was 13 I got my hair cut short and it pufffed out, so a few days later I went back to the salon and she gave me some tips. She was the stylist for our whole family, so of course she didn't even charge me.
Wait, stop! Don't cut it off! My hair was one lenght also. I went in and told the woman I wanted long layers and she gave more then what I wanted, I liked it when I left the salon and also then hating it. I curl my hair every morning and I'm starting to like it. I curl it under, after I am done I just run my hands through it and add just alittle hairspray. My hair has more bounce to it now and it really looks nice when it is curled. I wanted to cut mine off also, but why? I thought. Hang in their, give it time. I bet you might just like it after all.
