I've never heard anyone talk about this, but it worked for me for a long time, so...
All you do is wash your hair the way you usually do. Then, while you hair is still wet (you don't have to rinse the shampoo if you don't want, doesn't matter) you brush the front of your hair back like you're trying to slick it back. Then after that rinse and throw the wave cap on. Keep the wave cap on until the hair is COMPLETELY dry. When you take it off your hair should look kinda matted and stuff but don't worry. Brush the hair forward like you would usually do. If it works you'll notice that the hair is much softer than before. Keep brushing and you'll see that the waves are coming out. Just keep at it and you'll see results. Tell me if this works for you. I'm not sure though cause my hair is kinda crazy.

Isn't that like a combed back look? It sounds retro cuz that's how my dad used to sport 'em. But what ever works and looks good to u and for u is what matters. However I think the majority of us in this forum already have or are trying to get a differen't style of waves than what you are doing.
