Hello all, newbie here. I am in the midst of hormone he!! because of fertility drugs and a recent miscarriage. I have noticed my hair thinning (and getting more and more gray) since the miscarriage, but attributed that to depression over the loss and post-partum alopecia. Any advice on what I can do to fatten up my strands as I wait for my hormone levels to normalize? I am blunt cut below my BS with bangs.

Thanks so much in advance!

Hi Nyght, welcome to our little community!

I'm sorry to hear you're going through a tough spell. I don't know how to advise you. While you were pregnant did you rate of hair loss decrease? If so, your head is now making up for the strands that didn't fall out, back then. It's my understanding that the hormonal swings you're experiencing are normal and that things will return to normal, in time. (I just don't know how long that will be... no personal experience ).

Hang in there!

My hair was really luxurious during the pregnancy, so I'm sure you're right about the shedding.

I'm glad to have found this board - I am determined to get my waist-length hair back and it's nice to find a place that supports that!

:)

Hi Nyght, I hope you will find support on this board. Being here has certainly taught me a lot.

Seems like a rough time for you, unfortunately I am childless and have no experience with hormones. I did have a depression a few years back, and it certainly affected my hair, but I think that had more than anything to do with my loss of appetite, I got really skinny. Like Dave says, I´m sure it´s a passing phase. Just be sure to take good care of yourself, food- and exercisewise. And lean on your friends.

Thank you. :)

I feel a little better about my hair's condition. The student hairdresser told me the other day that I should NOT consider my hair thin, and he also said I had the softest hair he had ever worked with. I guess my prenatals are helping! (of course, to me, soft = can't hold a style!)

Nyght -- who needs "a style" when it's already beautifully soft and flowing?

Dave Decker, you put your head right on the nail! Right! Why are we always trying to make our hair do odd things for us when it´s beautiful just the way it is!

I think I just had one of those "I see the light"-moments...
