I think his braids would be a lot cooler if they were like long braids style. Kind of like Jamican hair, all braided up and stuff, but its not dreads. The best example would be that African dude in Eminem's music video in "just lose it". YOu know the music video that makes fun of Micheal Jackson.

I actually want to get my hair like that guy in the 2nd picture, I was just using the first one as an example. But, my hair grew in ridiculously uneven. It's been almost two years since i've cut it (i'm 16 now) and I have like 6 inches of growth on the top, 4 on the sides and like 2 to 3/12 in the back. Do you know if they have some sorta laser surgery that will enhance growth?
I don't think it is possible to grow more hair per month than your genetics allow you. The best advice to is too go with the flow. You haven't told me what type of hair you got, I assume it is african and kinky right, or is it more straight.
I got to say I have respect for a person of African descent that can go grow their hair long, caucasion hair is so much easier to tame and deal with, unless you hair is curly, and coarse.
I don't know if I could grow long hair or not. My mom is 1/3 indian and half black and she had hair to her mid back growing up before she cut it, don't know about my dads genetics though. My hair is pretty kinky I guess. What did you mean by Jamican hair earlier? Because the guy in that picture (Mekhi Phfier) has dreadlocks.
I still have yet to find any other pictures of guys with braids like the first picture though.
I assumed he had it braided, like I said the picture is poor quality. But it is all good. My best advice is to go to someone in your community that knows how to deal with hair.In many urban communities like Detriot or Chicago, there are salons that cater to people that want cornrows, braids, dreads ect. Ask around , then ask for advice. Whether you want dreads or Braids, it is going to take a lot of work. It takes about a year from a normal man's haircut to get to the point where your hair gets long.
Ohh yeah Mekhi Phfier's dreads it seems are fake. According one of the people that reviewed 8 mile. And I would believe it, he stars in a movie with very short hair dawn of the dead in 2004, then has dreads for just lose it, fishy. Ohh well at least it looks cool.
Given that your mom is half black, that would make you a quarter, you hair will probally be a mix of coarse and and kinky, and it will probally appear a little straight.
Well, thats not the case, lol. My dad is like 100% black soo.. That sorta overcasts my moms 1/3ness. Mekhi had dreads in 8 Mile and I thought the clips from Just Lose it were taken from the 8 Mile movie (much cheaper then going back and refilming such a small scene).

Here is a site that has braids, locs and other styles. You have to click on the pages but I think u will find what you are looking for.
In eminem's video, they rebuilt the set from 8 mile to make it look like the 8 mile movie. No, Mekhi does not have locs, it's a wig. Also, the guy in the first pic has extensions too.
