QuoteReplyTopic: Should I cut it? Help quick Posted: June 11 2000 at 11:17pm
I have long blonde hair. And I mean really long. It is like almost past my butt. Anyway, It is really hot and I am getting kind of sick of having really long hair. But I don`t know if I should cut it. And there are people with shoulder legnth hair complaining about the heat, and if cutting my hair that much won`t make that much of a difference, I don`t know. But I also kind of want to cut it. It would probobly look nice, but I don`t know if I should cut it a little , a lot, or cut it a little, and see how I like it and then If I do, cut it shorter. Then I kind of wanna just cut it really short now cause it is very long and I read some people`s posts that were very happy doing that. So anyway, I am 15, and kind of skinny but not really. If any of you can help soon please reply cause I want to get it cut in the next few days and I need ideas. thanks.

Basically speaking. If the hair is shoulder length or longer it is the same look Just longer!! Of course you can do different things with the different lengths, but as far as a style that concerns your face the only difference once it is below shoulders is if you put it up or not. Also the same holds true for being hot! So take that into consideration also. So if you really do want something different - go for it!
Ok, I undrstand that. It is gonna look a lot different though if I cut it from that long to just below my shoulders if its straight down even. Cause right now it is really long and I assume it would look a lot different. It would even be a lot off if I cut it to like mid back legnth. I just don`t know If I want shorter hair cause it is so long. I really want to get some cut off in the next few days so if you could tell me or something. I`m not even worried about styles, just the difference when it is straight and if I should keep it long or what? Then mabee I`ll worry about styles. Thanks.
I think, if you REALLY want to cut some length off, you should do it in baby steps since your hair is so long. Cut it to mid back, maybe, then cut more if you want to. Also, with shorter hair, even if it's still long, you'll notice it feels lighter, which may help SOMEWHAT with the heat. You didn't say how thick your hair is. That's a big factor, too. You might want to try some long layers for a different look. Whatever you decide, good luck! =)
Best wishes, Catriona P.S. If you cut quite a bit off, you might want to save it and donate it to Locks of Love. The make wigs for kids with cancer 'cause chemo makes them lose their hair... Just a suggestion since you've got such long hair =)
If you decide to cut your hair to shoulder length, email me BRFORE you cut. I buy and sell hair for extensions, and can pay you cash for your hair, if you cut 20 inches, or more off. Locks of Love is a worthy cause, however, if you check their web site they receive hundreds of ponytails a day, and can only use a small fraction of them for the wigs they make... They openly admit to selling most of the hair they receive. My email address is: flyboy_92150@yahoo.com
Hi Anette, Have you thought of trying on a short hair wig to see how you would look? Cutting hair as long as yours is a drastic change. It took years to get that long, if you change your mind it will take as long to get it back. When I was 19 my ahir was almost as long as yours sounds, I cut it to chin length. I regretted it about 3 hours later. It has taken me 6 years (with frequent trims to keep it healthy) to get it back to my hips. I'm going to keep it this way for quite a while. I'm not against short hair, on some women it looks just darling, but since you have such long hair you might really miss it if you go really short. Whatever you decide good luck, and let us know what you decide. =) Pat.

Annette, It is a myth that short hair is hotter than long...long hair you can get up or back, short hair you can't - and long hair you have a wide choice of how you wear it...short hair you haven't. It's also a myth that long hair is heavy - a woman in NY cut off 4 feet a few months ago and when it was weighed it was only 8 ounces! Think very carefully before you do anything drastic...I'm sure your long hair is wonderful, beautiful, special and something to be prized! If you do decide to cut anything (and I don't suggest you do!), just take a little off - you can always grow that back without too long a wait! :o) Chris
NO!! Don't cut your hair! Flip your head over and braid it. This will get it off your neck and you will know if you miss having your long hair. There are so many ways to wear your long hair. Check out my new long hair book on the first page of this site. Don't be hasty! It takes so long to grow back. MSBL

Unfortunately the only way you will really know if you like it or not is to try it!! So if you are feeling the need for a big change go for it, if not try a length somewhere in between. And yes no matter what length you end up with, if you cut a fair amount off it will look and feel different. Keep us posted!!
hi, my name is brandy and let me tell you...i ues to have really really long hair. i just got mine cut like a little above my shoulders and at first i did regret it but its ok. their are all sorts of ways to style it were as ues to i could only do so many things. my hair is very thin and i hate my color. its brown-ish blond. i am going to thicken' up a little and highlight it blonde. i'm hoping it will grow back a little before school starts back.wll, let ya go now bye--brandy
I totaly understand how you feel. My hair used to be halfway down my back. I got so sick of it being hot.... One day I told my mom that I wanted to cut it. But was afraid to. She called my hairstylist without me knowing. When I got there I said that I wanted my usual 1/2 inch cut off. The hair stylist took her sisors right at my chin and snipped. I was like oh my gosh. But after it got done I was really glad. Moral of the story is that If you want to cut it go for it. It's just hair. It will grow back! go for it!!!!!
