Ideas for slightly receding male

Hi, sorry i have no pictures but i'll do my best to describe what i have.

Currently i have hair down to about my eyebrows and it's very messy. But my hairs recentely started to go around the edges. So i want to go for shorter hair and not hide it. But the only problem is i have a kinda big forehead, not massive but big enough to make it look odd if i have like shaved hair.

Are there any suggestions as to what would work?
