QuoteReplyTopic: DUMP THE AVEDA PRODUCTS Posted: January 12 2000 at 1:40am
I would urge anyone who cares about their hair to dump the Aveda sludge and pick up some healthy hair care products from Aubrey Organics (1-800-AUBREY H). Read the ingredients on Aveda and you should want to change your shampoos and conditioners. I used to use the Aveda Shampure and the Curessence on my long hair and wondered why the shine and the body was missing and seemed too oily or dry.I trimmed nearly three inches of dead, split ends and started with Aubrey's J.A.Y. shampoo and Jojoba and Aloe Rejuvenating Hair Conditioner. A year later my hair was back to being thick, lustrous, beautiful hair. It grew at nearly twice the rate of my normal growth rate. It barely touched my shoulders and a year later it was past the middle of my back. More important, it was strong, and broke very little.I would urge anyone to at least try the products. If you use any type of chemical treatment on your hair, you should receive optimum benefits from these products. If you use the Aveda Curessence hair conditioner to detangle your hair, Aubrey's Jojoba and Aloe or GPB hair conditioner will make it look like child's play. For those concerned about animal testing, Aubrey does not test on animals. He has tested on the those who need the results: people. Most of his products are VEGAN, too.

> I, too, have used the JAY shampoo and GPB conditioner and absolutely loved them. I haven't used Aubrey products for a while because I haven't been in a health food store lately. However, Jade's post has reminded me just how good the products are... I may have to pick them up again soon!
Hi Cher,I have actually used Aubrey's products in the past. In fact, I worked my way up and down the health food store hair and beauty aisles. Sorry, but Aveda is it for me. I don't discount Jade's comments, but for me....Aveda is the best product for my hair. Everyone's hair is different so in reality there is no best product for anyone. You have to test and find the one best for you.Aveda does NOT test on animals. I know this for a fact. After Aura and Abba and recently 2 other products I am going to happily use Aveda for awhile. I don't have a problem with Aubrey (in fact I recommend his books) I just don't find his products as satisfactory for my hair. Yes, they are all natural and have less chemicals than Aveda. I also don't do well on a 100% vegetarian diet either. Everyone is different and their hair is different.Aveda results can be seen on my photos. It makes my hair shiny and soft and gorgeous. For me that is what I am looking for.Everyone needs to make their own decisions. I have said this constantly. If it works for you, then great. If not, keep looking.KarenKaren> Oh no Karen/Jeff... is this another test> session in the making? ;-)
I have also tried the Aubrey products. Although they are healthy, they have almost no lather (because they don't contain the lather agent found in most shampoos) and consequently I had a problem knowing how much to use or not use on my hair. Most of the time my hair felt either still dirty or soapy. I don't use Aveda, but I also don't feel comfortable with Aubrey.> Hi Cher,> I have actually used Aubrey's products in> the past. I like that their shampoos have no synthetic lathering additives, and I'd really like to like them... but quite frankly the shampoos leave my hair dry and straw like. I greatly prefer the aveda shampoos. However, I wouldn't trade my bottle of GPB conditioner for anything. It's a fabulous deep conditioner with no silicons... it makes my hair feel really strong and elastic. It is fairly heavy though, so I alternate it with lighter aveda conditioners, or I use the very light aveda rosemary mint creme rinse on the most of my hair, with GPB on the last few inches. That works really well for me.To each his own...-jj

I try to go to the salon to pamper myself about every two months. It also gives my arms a break:) Anyway, a hair stylist gave me a tip. She said depending on your hair length, you should not overuse any product, because all you are doing is wasting your money. My hair is almost now below the middle of my back and I don''t ever use more than about 1oz of shampoo--two shampoos, 1/2 oz each--and 2oz of conditioner. The Aubrey products do not contain the sodium laurel or laureth sulfate, thus not as many suds. The purpose is not to strip your hair of its natural oils. Maybe u just didn't use the right Aubrey shampoo for your hair or maybe u were impatient like I was when I first started using the products.
