I remember when I had short hair and I wanted to have a new style. I must have been 10 at the time. I couldn';t wait so I decided to cut my hair a bit. Well that bit cause a lot of headaches to the styllist and I ended up with a really short hair cut. I telling short. I willnever forget.

OK, I have a few for you:When I was very little, my mother would get my hair cut really short. I thought I looked like a boy!Whenever I'd come back from getting my hair cut, I'd take one of my dolls and cut her hair off! Guess Ithought I was giving it the same kind of haircut I got. :-) Perhaps a childhood of short hair is behindmy desire to keep my hair long in adulthood. When I was in 8th or 9th grade I had thick, medium-length hair, but it always tangled so bad. Especially at the napeof my neck. It would drive me crazy! One day I got fed up with all the knots and took a pair of scissors to thehair back there. Guess my secret was found out when I went to my hairdresser some time after and she said "What are allthese short hairs back here?" I think she really knew what I had done! :-)Back in college I decided to dye my naturally dark brown hair black (it *was* the early 80's!). Found out later that I hadmissed a swatch of hair in the back! So I had this black hair with a brown section in the back! Of course, I acted like I had done it*on purpose*! :-)

When I was little, my mom wouldn't allow me to have long hair 'coz I whined so much when she washed/combed it. I say she made good sense.I had the dreaded Pixie cut when I was about 8 years old. I went with my folks to a restaurant and was holding the door for everyone. After my family, there was an older man coming toward the door. So I held it for him, too. He realized I was holding the door and said "Thank you, sonny."The thing about the Pixie, was that it made my hair feel even thicker than it was. I remember constantly pushing my bangs upward, where they'd often stay, secured with sweat from my forehead. Is the shorter-feels-thicker just me? Or is that common?RunningWild

Here's one Diane,I have very dark brown hair with bangs. I decided I wanted some blonde in it. (I could do this because my husband was off hunting.) I usually part my hair down the middle but decided for this test I would color my bangs, part my hair on the side and then do a strip of hair. That way if I didn't like it I could always part my hair down the middle again and hide what I'd messed up.The color turned out "strawberry blonde". I called a neighbor, told her and she said I hadn't left the stuff on long enough. Well, I re-colored my bangs first. (Grimace) When all the color was off my bangs they were white. Thank goodness I didn't re-color my strip of hair.Mom had some hair color; we put that on and when we took it off my bangs were evergreen. A beautiful color, but not on hair. So I decided to cut out the "strip of hair" I had colored. My Mom came in and caught me after I'd cut about a 1/2 inch square out of my head. (I was 27 then). And yes, when those hairs started growing back they poked through my other hair - it felt like a bunch of needles.I'm just glad I sense enough to change my part. This is really one of those "dumb" stories. I ended up going down to the neighbor's house for a bottle of rinse. Every time I would wash my hair I would have green bangs, and I'd put in the rinse. Talk about never leave home without it.In the end my hair grew out, but until they did, I had bangs like a 3 year old, very short. Thanks,Debbie
