curls or no curls for long hair?

I specialize in perming of long hair and would like to share this with you: If your hair is grown out to say your shoulder blades(4-6") past your shoulders you might consider a "piggy-back" perm with the first rod being a 'white one' and the second one a 'purple one'. This combination will yield a firm base curl and a looser curl in the mid lengh and lengths without a noticable difference in the normal life of the perm. I reccomend finding a salon that is very proficient in perming by calling around and discussing this very technique and see which ones are understanding the tech. When rolling the first rod , roll 'one half on base' and alternate the length of hair rolled on the first rod by 1 inch on each rod and do not roll more than 4 inches of length on any of the white rods. H ave your stylist explain how much curl you will get from the different size rods. You may want to go for a purple/peach color rods for a looser curl look. But the object is to slightly curl the hair closest to the head slightly curlier than the rest so as your perm grows out/relaxes the curl will not go flat for a much longer period of time(due to the weight of your hair as it grows tends to pull the curl out.
