I just read John Vernier's story featured on the HairBoutique's home page. It was a great story and I lovedreading it.Your story about wearing the barrette reminded me of oneday several years ago when a female friend of mine andI took turns french-braiding each other's hair, and thenwe went to the beach. I received MANY strange looks andoverheard some very unflattering comments. But it didn'tfaze me at all. I liked it that way on that day, and sodid my friend, so that was all that mattered. Thanks for sharing your story, John!Dave

I'm going to have to make sure my brother gets to see this one - he'll really appreciate it. (He's 11, and has had long hair for more than half his life. He's small for his age, and adults often mistake him for a girl, which doesn't really bother him too much, but his classmates are another story...)Laura Janelswanson@sunflower.bio.indiana.edu
>Hello John,I really enjoyed your sense of humor and your relationship you have with your wife. I couldn't stop laughing when you wrote that she mentioned to cut your hair unless you plan to have long hair.I also understood the positive message in your words you are sending and I respect that. But I must asked you something. I am a barrrette wearer, If you happen to find a place that has a lot of very nice barrettes can you please tell me about it in your adventures.I just read John Vernier's story featured on the Hair> Boutique's home page. Hi John,Had to tell you how much I enjoyed your article and also how nice your hair is! It looks great! Thank you for sharing the pictures. Also especially loved the leather hair tie with the beads!A friend of mine asked me to put that in his extremely thick, wavy long blond hair once and I had to do it a couple times before it came out right -- it takes skill! It also really looks neat and is a neat way to encase the length of hair. Very cool!I've also seen men with long hair wearing large "barrettes" of Native American design. For some reason, quite a few people I noticed responded more positively to that one than others. For example, a silver barrette with turquoise inlays or the thunderbird design. Hmmm...I also delighted to find you to be a Tolkien fan! I am too and immediately recognized Strider's poem on Narsil! I am definitely a fan of Luthien Tinuviel and even Arwen Evenstar. I have done some Tolkien art myself of Galdalf (in pointellism -- took years!).I have a great link to Tolkien art (a few great ones with Aragorn/Strider in them). If you are interested, please email me at either Valentine@iconnect.net or at Diva_Val@yahoo.com.Hope to see more articles from you in the future. All my best,Valentine :o)
