I have a 1 year-old biracial daughter with very frizzy/kinky hair. She looks cute the way she is but she hates to have me comb it because it gets tangled. I bought a detangling solution in a hair care store and use a wide tooth combe and it helps, but how can I straighten/style it for special occasions? Does she require special hair care products? I will appreciate what ever information I can get.

Not only was it frizzy, but it would matt heavily if it wasn't braided most of the time. From my experience, that of a couple of other white friends with similar hair, and all my multiracial friends I'd suggest you march right into the african american hair care section of your local beauty supply for products. I've found that african-amercian styling products really help tame my hair when it's being unmanagable. In fact you may be best off going to a salon that specializes in african-american hair care... they'll be able to give you a lot of help, particularly with special occasion styles. A lot of the people we think of as "african-american" are really bi-racial or multiracial and so a salon will probably have experience dealing with a wide range of textures and kinkiness.-jennifer j
