There used to be a time when I could brush my hair all the way down to the ends by extending my hand backwards with the brush. Now that the hair's longer, I can't reach any lower and I can manage just until the middle lengths. I'm afraid pulling my brush out halfway might be too rough on the ends and break them or end up with 'uncombed hair'. Is there a method to brush longer hair like pulling the lengths to the front and brushing them over the shoulder?

I think I read on this site how to divide the hair from the back, pull it forward, and then brush it in front. That way you can see any snarls and gently work them out--and you also don't break your arm! That's what I am starting to do now that my hair is reaching its new desired length! Good luck!> There used to be a time when I could brush my hair all> the way down to the ends by extending my hand> backwards with the brush. Hi Christine. There are probably several ways that would work well. The method that I use is to divide the hair down the center and pull it forward over my shoulders. After all the tangles have been removed, I put it all behind me again and smooth over it one more time. To reach the bottom parts (below the waist) I reach up from the bottom with the brush.Good luck. I hope you find what works well for your hair.Teresa

Hi all,By the way...I have almost finished my next article on brushing. It is a serious piece that details lots of brushing questions like Boar's Bristle or not....how many stroke to brush...100 or not...why, why not and even an overall of all the different brush shapes and styles. I should have it up in the next few days.As far as brushing hair that is too long.....I was told by a woman with knees length hair that she wraps the length around a wooden bedpost and then bends over at the waist and gently brushes the bottom of her hair. Then she works her way up to the middle and the top.My hair is only to the middle of my tush and so I don't have that problem...although I would like to.Great topic...by the way.Best wishes,Karen> I think I read on this site how to divide the hair> from the back, pull it forward, and then brush it in> front. That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger or drives you totally insane. :-)
