updo hairstyle

Hi,I have attached the URL below to make sure we are talking about the same redhead.Believe it or not...this is a very easy updo to make. You start off with a ponytail that is pulled tight...but not too tight (don't want to damage your hair) and then get a curling iron or hot rollers and section your hair into as many curls as you want. You can do just 6-8 really big curls or 8-12 smaller curls. You will actually be putting the curlers in your hair after you have put the ponytail in. Be sure not to use anything but a "hair friendly" ponytail tie or elastic. Rubber bands are a definite no-no. Believe it or not I recently saw a hairstylist using rubber bands on braids. Freaked me out. :-)Leave the curlers in your hair until the curls are set or use a curling iron and set the curls until they take the shape you want. Let the hair totally cool for at least 20 minutes after you stop using the curling iron or remove the curlers before you style the curls.You can use a good hair spray and spray the curls first for extra hold. Then take each curl individually and use your fingers to carefully pin the each curl in a circle around and behind the ponytail. You can experiment with the curls and pull a few tendrils out to hang from the very nape of the neck or along the sides.Take your time and pin each curl down securely. You can layer the curls around the ponytail and in a soft trail down the back of your head or you can focus the curls just around the ponytail.After you have each curl securely in place, again spray your hair with a good holding hairspray.You can dress this style up with just about anything from a glittery headband to a well placed butterfly pin or flowers etc.The key to this style is having time to practice it first before you wear it to a formal event.Hope this helps.I also love this style and wear a similar updo (although I often leave my hair long and curled at the bottom).
