What is the best way to use olive oil as a deep conditioning pak? Amount? Alone or mixed with another ingredient? How long? I tried it once before, but it took several shampoos to get the oiliness out - which I felt defeated the purpose of using it in the first place. Thanks!

I just tried olive oil for the first time this evening. I warmed it slightly in the microwave, then slathered in on and covered my hair with a plastic cap and a towel to keep the heat in. I left it on for 30 minutes, then rinsed with warm water (I've heard hot water will set the oil) and then shampooed. I let it dry naturally and I can't believe how soft it is! My hair was really dry and over-processed. So I will definitely do this again.

I use olive oil about once every couple of weeks, but only on my ends. I usually just put the bottle under hot running water, then rub it between my palms before applying. I just use a little... I don't think you need to really soak your hair. Anyway, it leaves my hair wonderfully soft and shiney.I've also mixed warm olive oil with natural henna to give myself reddish highlights. It's messy, but feels fabulous on!Best wishes,JenRelated Link:Bowers-Bahney Communications

This is how I use olive oil: I wait till I'm about to go to bed, comb out my hair really well, put my bottle of olive oil in a cup of hot water for a few minutes to warm it, I rub just enough through my hair to make it slippery feeling, then I either put my hair in a braid or under a sleeping cap and sleep with the olive oil still on it. I wash it out the next morning in my shower (I almost always shampoo twice).Good luck!PS- You can add a few drops of any essential oil to the olive oil if you want to give it a more pleasent smell!

I don't think Henna is a good idea as it does build up and not only causes breakage to the hair but can prevent conditioners of ANY type to penetrate, just like fixative in shampoos and conditioners and silicone as well. Thought you and others should know this. Hope this helps.
