Hi, I was wondering, how do Aveda's color products work? Do they have a light highlighting action, or is the difference in color really noticible? Which gives a more intense color, the shampoo or the conditioner (can you use one without the other)? Also, do they dry the hair? And finally, how long does the color stay, I mean, will it come out with the next washing? Thank you, PD.
I think Aveda's color products are ok. I'm using both the clove shampoo (brown colored) and the clove conditioner. The shampoo tends to give you highlight (in the color you choose) slowly. The conditioner has both good and bad. Good is that it gives you ultra rich color and shine/softness. A little note: I had light blonde highlights but when I used the conditioner it turned my highlights a dark rich brown color and it has stayed that way. So just becareful in choosing a darker conditioner than you hair color, unless you plan of having your hair darker. The REALLY negative part of the conditioner is that fact that the pigments stains your scalp therefore no matter how many rinsings it'll leave stains on my pillowcase...

The woman told me that if you don't use it regularly, the colour will wash out. She also explained that if you wash your hair every other day, then you should use the conditioner about twice a week. Chemically treated hair will take the colour conditioner more intensely and of course the longer you leave it in---the richer the colour. It can also be used to 'keep up' any perm/semipermanent colour that is already in the hair. The only way you can lose is with the staining. Good Luck!
