I was reading the May issue of Jane magazine and found this as a hair tip for adding fullness to hair. The stylist recommended using sea salt and water, and added that using a natural oil in the solution would add fullness to the hair with a more natural look.I thought salt water was supposed to be bad for the hair.Any information would be appreciated.Jade21

I don't know anything for sure, but that sounds like poison for hair!!! Salt is probably corrosive, and most other magazines go off pop about how bad sea water is for your hair, so I'm guessing it would cause A LOT of damage, especially to colour treated hair, not to mention make a mess. But maybe the oil in the mixture is supposed to neutralize the effects of the salt?? I don't think I'd try it!

I've seen a lot of recs from professional stylists who insist that this sea salt /water combo is really useful for curly hair. Julianna Margolis' (ER) stylist uses it whever he does her hair for the show and other celeb events. he said a light spritz of it controls the curls better. He just goes to the ocean and fills up a spritz bottle! I'm sure that you would have to deep condition you hair at least once a week if you used this since salt is supposed to be very drying. i dont know if I'd try it either seeing as that you could easilly add too much salt or something. I have noticed though that after swimming in the ocean my curls do form very nicely.
