Help! I had long hair that I was very happy with, until I got quite ill with a disorder that saw me hospitalized four times. During this ordeal my hair went from long to longer. Too long! When I was released from the hospital and sent home to recover, the first thing I wanted to do was get my hair cut. I should have just restored it to my original cut, but by now I was associating my overgrown hair with my sickly looking face and was desperate to see another image in the mirror. So I got long layers cut into the back and the sides, and cut my bangs. Now I am almost healthy, and I am wondering what I have done. I actually really like the layers, but I am not happy with the overly thick bangs, and wish they were at their old chin length. However, bangs are chic now, and I am afraid if I start growing them out, the look will be very dated (too early 90's?).I would appreciate any input. I have been very hard on myself since I got sick, and I cant really tell if I sound unreasonble or crazy.

After cutting my long hair into bitch bangs about a year and a half ago I would highly suggest you buck up and be patient and don't worry about the out of date thang. Don't we all look out of date at some point in time anyways. I would not cut your bangs anymore if you want to grow them back out. Just be patient and when you go to the salon for a regular trim, do not cut the bangs. I learned after I was doing this that cutting only prevents from growing. To deal with my bangs, I used either a head band, cute clips off to one side or did the up do thang and would pin the bangs back off to the side for a more slick look. I too felt very out dated and after having very short bitch bangs there was a time I just couldn't do anything with them except wait for them to grow. Once the bangs were around my eyebrow length I could do more with them. Using gell or harrspray to hold the bangs down is a option.Although I am not a proffessionl, this was just my experience and advie to offer after hating the growing out faze of cutting my bangs short.
