I just got my hair done and was very pleased. The total was $46.00 and I tipped him $20.00. I thought I was being generous but the stylist looked at my kind of sickly and said, "Thanks". I didn't expect him to make a big deal but wasn't it enough? How does everyone else tip? Thanks,Shannon

You must have really been pleased. That's nearly 50%. I don't think I've ever tipped anyone that much for a hairstyle.I think the stylist's reaction ought to tell you something. Maybe he's just a bit greedy. What city is it?Normally, a 25% tip is it for me. For a superior style, maybe 30%, but I haven't found anyone yet:)Bye for now,Jade21I just got my hair done and was very pleased. The> total was $46.00 and I tipped him $20.00. Holy Cow!!!!$20.00 for just a $46 visit-- I only hope that your stylist didn't own the salon (tipping owners is a NO-NO). Anyway, on average my salon visit runs just over $100 and I only tip $10 (or 10%)-- I know that I should tip at least $15 for the $100 service, but I have curly hair and I ALWAYS come out of the salon frizzy (although my color looks great) Anyway, tipping at salons is generally like tipping at restaraunts-- tip on how much you like your service-- BUT, don't go overboard-- if you have trouble figuring out percents, try and get yourself one of those Restaraunt tipping cards-- it will help you figure out that math in a pinch :)SHerry> total was $46.00 and I tipped him $20.00. (tipping owners is a> NO-NO).That's what I've always heard, but the very first time I went to my current stylist, I asked the receptionist if the owner (who is my stylist) accepted tips, and she said, "sure," so I always have. I probably wouldn't, except that I've *never* been disappointed by his work.

I went to a place in a mall in Lawrenceville, NJ. It's in no way a "pricey" area but he gave me a discount on the haircut, took me without an appointment and worked really quickly to get me out of there. Plus, we passed the time joking and having fun. Oh well-live and learn!Shannon
